Avni Theatre Productions, started by popular theatre personality Amee Trivedi, was launched with a purpose to set up its own tradition and follow its own principles. Founded in the year 2000, Avni has become the only name to reckon with whenever the thought of Gujarati theatre arrives in one’s mind. It was started with the intention of delivering trendsetting plays. From its very inception, the company has been flourishing year after year nurturing its aim of producing captivating, socially responsible & yet highly entertaining plays. Six years of glory and fame has made Avni a most sought after name in this industry producing plays of different statures which are awaited eagerly by viewers not just in the Mumbai stage, but all over the world.

Avni means ‘earth’. Earth includes everything right from the culture, tradition, society, etc. In the same perspective, Avni has given its viewers some of the most memorable plays that relate the basics of our country’s culture & society and the simple things that occur in our day-to-day life. Each of its plays are highly applauded across the world. The debut venture of Avni was ‘Lajja Taney Maara Samm’ which went on to become a runaway success. So much so, that the play went on to become the biggest hit of the year 2000-2001. Not only that, it toured seven countries, namely Kenya, UAE, The United States Of America, Belgium, The United Kingdom, Holland, Canada and Portugal, at a stretch and did 51 shows in just 104 days. This was an achievement that no other production house has ever accomplished till date.

‘Aap Ki Lajja’ was the Hindi version of ‘Lajja Taney Maara Samm’ which too managed to win hearts of the masses alike. Avni also produced ‘PreetGhela’ later on and that was also a successful play of its time. Avni added another feather to its cap with its most successful play ‘Lagangaadu Chaale Aadu’ which was world premiered in London on 8th November 2003. Not only that but the play proceeded from London to Antwerp and Dubai to perform seven shows in just a week’s time. This was for the first time ever in the history of Gujarati theatre that a play has had an international premiere. In the year 2005, again the same play proceeded to United States, and it performed around 30 shows. It was the most delightful experience for the U.S. based Indian citizens to watch such a wonderful play away form India. The play was highly appreciated by them and today it is an international hit & it lives in the Gujarati theatergoers across the world. ‘Devna Didhel’ is another play produced by Avni in the recent times, which has the audiences spellbound during the play and overwhelmed after the play. ‘Ek Anokhi Olkhan’ is the latest one that Avni has brought up for its entire theatre watching crowd. It’s a perfect social entertainer starring Muni Jha & Amee Trivedi. Based on real life incident the play examines the various relationships within a family in a thriller format.
